Below you will find answers to some frequently asked questions about our textbook buyback comparison service. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.
Why should I use Textbook Buyback Compare (aka TbbCompare)?
Let's face it. There are a lot of options available to students and others looking to sell their textbooks. Did you know that over 20 textbook buyback websites have launched within the past two years? While choice is a good thing, selling back textbooks has become a time consuming process. We aim to make the textbook buyback comparison process as easy and painless as possible, while still ensuring that you get paid a fair price for your books.
What makes Textbook Buyback Compare different from other buyback comparison websites?
Other comparison websites focus almost exclusively on price. While price is important, there are other considerations to think about before selling your books. How can you tell which companies are trustworthy? How long will it take to get paid? What level of customer service do these companies provide? All things considered, which is the best? With our exclusive letter grade rating system, you can read reviews from other students just like you so that you can make an informed decision. While we only allow reputable companies on this site, each company has its strengths and weaknesses. We strongly encourage you to compare the company ratings and reviews before selling your textbooks.
How do I leave a review?
Leaving a review is quick and easy. Simply click on the "Write a Review" button found at the top of this page. Select the appropriate buyback company and then give a letter grade (why let your professors have all the fun?!) along with a brief description of your experience with the company. Once approved, your review will be visible and your letter grade will be aggregated with others to give an overall grade for each company.
Why is my review not showing up in the review section?
We manually review every rating submission, so it may take up to 48 hours for your review to display.
We reserve the right to reject any review for any reason. As a general guideline, reviews containing profanities, inappropriate language, hate speech, threats, all caps and excessive spelling or grammar errors will be rejected. If you'd be embarrassed if grandma read it, don't write in the first place. If you had a negative experience with one of the buyback companies, definitely let others know so that they can get a more complete picture of the buyback company; but please refrain from using the above-mentioned no-nos. Your review will be taken more seriously and grandma will be much happier.
What's the minimum grade that I should feel comfortable dealing with?
Ultimately, the answer to this question is up to you. Just remember, that you likely spent a lot of money for your books and you should make sure that you feel confident sending those expensive books to the buyback company that you select. There also may be some areas that are particularly important to you such as speed of payment or responsiveness.
We highly recommend that you read the reviews along with looking at letter grade ratings. A "B" to one person, might be a "C" for another so it's important to look at the details.
Will I still get paid if my book has writing and highlighting (or cover tears or coffee stains or my cat used it as a scratching post, etc.)?
Each buyback company has different book condition guidelines, and we highly encourage you to compare them before mailing your book. We realize that reading through terms & conditions is boring, but it's worth it especially if you have any concerns about the condition of your book.
How do I send my book to these companies?
All of the companies on our buyback list pay the shipping costs. After creating an order to sell your book(s), you will have the option to print out a pre-paid mailing label.
Do I really receive cash for my book?
That is a great question and the answer is yes. The buyback companies on the list will send your payment via check or PayPal. The exception to this is Amazon. Amazon will only send gift cards to use on Amazon.com.
